Providing Resources and Independence for Youth Development (PRIYD)

Building Strong Families

Family Services of Greater Vancouver’s PRIYD program provides integration support workers to special needs children and youth living in Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, and Vancouver. The program is designed as a support for children and youth with mental and physical challenges. The goals of the program are to increase each person’s independence and to support the family. Service is provided both one-to-one and in small groups.

The PRIYD program has been developed to help youth in the following areas:

  • Contract specific goals
  • Access to and use of community facilities
  • Social skills and peer interaction
  • Communication
  • Appropriate social behaviour
  • Street safety
  • Volunteer work experience
  • Recreation activities
  • Transit skills
  • Money management
  • Transition planning

Our Staff: Skilled integration support workers from different educational and cultural backgrounds.

Languages Spoken: We can communicate in American Sign, Cantonese, English, Filipino, French, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese.

Fees: There are no fees for this program. Funding for this program is provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

How to get service: You need to be referred by Ministry of Children and Family Development – Community Living Services.

Location: Program is available to residents of Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, and New Westminster. Our staff will come to your home.
