Parents Connect—for parents of children 0-6 years old

Take a break and relax while connecting with other parents and participating in guided discussions. Know you’re not alone!

April 13—June 8, 2018 (on Fridays, 9:30 am—12 pm at Olivet Church, 613 Queens Avenue, New Westminster

  • No cost
  • Bus tickets and snacks available
  • Free childminding

Creative Explorations—for parents of young children

Explore young children’s creative self through arts and crafts, songs and stories

April 16—May 14, 2018 (5 sessions, on Mondays) 12:30—2 pm at Early Years Centre at QayQayt Elementary School, 85 Merivale St (access the centre at the back of QayQayt)

  • Parent participation required

Raising exceptional children—support group for parents of special needs children ages 0–6 years old

Relax while connecting with other parents, sharing the challenges of parenting exceptional children, and learning about community resources. Know that you’re not alone!

March 7 and 14, April 11, 18 and 25 (on Wednesdays), 12—2 pm at New West Family Place, 93 Sixth St., New Westminster

  • No cost
  • Bus tickets and coffee available
  • Childminding is available upon registration

Single Moms’ Group—support program for moms raising children on their own

Take a break while connecting with other moms about the joys and challenges of solo parenting and learning about community resources. Know that you’re not alone!

April 11–June 6 (on Wednesdays), 5—7 pm at Olivet Church, 613 Queens Avenue, New Westminster

  • No cost

PALS (Parents as Literacy Supporters) program

For parents and caregivers of children 2–6—learn strategies to encourage your child to develop language and literacy skills to help them adapt to their community and prepare them for school

April 16—June 11 (on Mondays), 10am-12pm at Olivet Church, 613 Queens Avenue, New Westminster

  • Open to all caregivers: mom, dad, newcomers, citizens, etc.

Community Kitchens for parents of children 0-5 years old

Meet new friends, learn new recipes, and cook a healthy meal

April 11—June 13 (on Wednesdays), 10am-12pm at Qayqayt Elementary School, 85 Merivale St., New Westminster (access at the back)

  • Open to parents, grandparents, and caregivers
  • No cost
  • Childminding available
