Creating Safety

The experience of a power-based crime* can create conflicts between loyalty and safety for the victim, as well as create crises regarding involvement with the criminal justice system, finances, children, and housing.The Victim Service Programs listed below offer specialized support to people who have experienced these crimes. Services include safety planning; court information, orientation and accompaniment; and referrals to other resources.*Power-based crime includes: sexual assault, domestic violence, childhood abuse, criminal harassment

In addition to these programs which are open to the public, we offer specialized follow up on the most serious domestic violence cases reported to Vancouver Police Department or New Westminster Police Services. These programs are partnerships with the police departments and service is offered after police have attended the initial 911 call.
