Renata Aebi has worked within the not-for-profit sector for over twenty years, focusing on the delivery of services to children, youth and families. She has specialized in youth at risk issues and is a nationally recognized expert in the area of child and youth sexual exploitation. She has contributed to policy, legislation and research in the area of child welfare and has presented before government, judges, business and community. Renata currently serves as Vice President of Youth and Employment Services for Family Services of Greater Vancouver. A major part of her portfolio includes Directions Youth Service Centre—a 24-hour-seven-day-a-week resource that provides Vancouver’s youth who are homeless or living in at-risk situations with the tools, support, and guidance they need to go about making healthy, positive changes in their lives. Renata currently serves on the Board of the McCrearey Centre Society and is formerly president of both the Canadian Women Voter’s Congress and the West End Business Improvement Association. In 2009, Renata was a finalist in the YWCA “Women of Distinction” awards. Renata holds a BFA from York University (Toronto, CAN), a teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, CAN), and a Master’s Degree in the Department of Education from Simon Fraser University. |
