| Incest, sexual abuse and other childhood trauma affect the individual's physical, emotional, psychological, neurological, and relational development. VISAC and TASA's therapeutic goals are to promote: self-awareness; self-protection; self-soothing; emotional regulation; somatic healing; and spiritual growth for individuals and families. The program puts into practice the values of respect, empowerment, and choice. The approach seeks to be sensitive and responsive to people's unique cultural and social situations.

Fees for Service Many of our programs are free of charge.
Funding from the Ministry of Public Safety and the Solicitor General (Stopping the Violence Program) provides counselling services free of charge to women living in Vancouver or Richmond who have experienced childhood sexual abuse or trauma. Contributions based on a sliding scale will be welcome from those who are able to pay.
Funding from the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (Residential Historical Abuse Program) provides counselling services free of charge to women and men who were sexually abused in a provincially funded or operated residential facility.
Funding from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General (Crime Victim Assistance Program) provides counselling services free of charge to women and men who are victims of crime and in receipt of crime victim assistance benefits.
Trauma counselling services are available for a minimum hourly rate of $85/hr (based on sliding scale) for those who have experienced abuse or trauma and wish to have the flexibility of bypassing the waitlist.
