| Because play is the natural medium for self-expression in children, play therapy is the primary therapeutic intervention for children who have experienced trauma. Non-directive and directive play, art and sand therapy, talk therapy and other therapeutic interventions including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) are also used. Because a supportive parent(s)/caretaker(s) is the primary curative force in a child's life, they are invited to be involved as co-therapists to help strengthen the child and to maximize the healing process. Referral for teens requires their consent.
