Family Services of Greater Vancouver is a community-based not-for-profit organization that has been providing social services to children, youth, adults, and families across the lower mainland since 1928.

In July 1997, Family Services was granted a license to provide adoption planning and placement services. Our adoption agency provides counselling and adoption services to birth parents and adoptive parents. We arrange adoptions within BC, as well as from other provinces in Canada and have facilitated many relative and orphan intercountry adoptions.  Some of the countries that our families have adopted from include Ethiopia China, Philippines, and India.  Family Services has also facilitated relative and orphan adoptions from other countries.

Whether you are a birth parent thinking about placing your child for adoption in British Columbia or an adoptive parent wanting more information on how to adopt a child locally or from overseas, our team of experienced professionals can assist you through the adoption process.

Upcoming Information Sessions

Family Services Licensed Adoption Agency holds free information sessions for prospective adoptive parents. We encourage you to come learn about local and intercountry adoption, hear from our staff and adoptive parents experiences, and have a chance to informally chat with them afterwards over some light refreshments.

We will be holding general information sessions on:

• Sunday, April 18, 2010  2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
• Sunday, May 2, 2010  2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
• Sunday, June 27, 2010  2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

All information sessions are held at Family Services of Greater Vancouver - 1616 West 7th Ave (at Fir) in Vancouver. Parking can be found at the rear of the building. To pre-register or to receive more information, please call 604.736.7613 .

Upcoming Education Seminars

Family Services Adoption Agency and Choices Adoption and Counselling are proud to present an informative and exciting 4-day educational program designed to help you learn about all aspects of adoption.  You will:

• Make connections with others involved in the adoption process;
• Learn about the latest information to make your adoption successful;
• Get tips and techniques on becoming the best adoptive parent(s) you can possibly be.  

What our graduates are saying, “Despite the fact that this program is mandatory, we were glad to have learned about attachment, grief and loss, orphanage life, special needs etc. before our adopted child came home!”
