| About the Community Access Program for Women
Being on Income Assistance can be very stressful. One can easily feel discouraged or lost. When focussing on suriving day to day, it's hard to make plans for the future. The Community Access Program for Women provides women on income assistance with one-to-one support as they work towards their personal career goals, helping them learn new skills along the way. The CAP program helps women get the tools they need to enable them to plan for a brighter future.
The following are examples of how the Community Access Program for Women can help you:
- One to one support: Sit down and talk with someone who can work with you to get what you need to make your daily life better. We can support you in creating or enhancing your vision for the future.
- Access to resources: Get connected to supports in your community (child care, counselling, etc). We can help you to find a volunteer placement to gain valuable employment skills. We can help you get connected with education or training programs like FoodSafe or WHMS.
- Money management: Take part in Family Services' Financial Literacy program in order to learn how to get the most out of your money and begin planning for your future.
- Group support: Participate in small groups and make friends while learning new skills. We can help you gain communications and assertiveness skills. Some examples of the types of workshops include: money management; communication skills; anger management; building healthy relationships with your children; stress and parenting; plus many more!

The program is geared at women on income assistance who are needing some help in taking the next steps towards financial independence.
